Cheap flight to Haneda, Japan

This one is a long time coming. ^__^ At least for me.

After launching the successful route from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to Incheon, South Korea; now AirAsia is ready to embrace their wings on Japan. I am particularly excited about the whole establishment!! Well done AirAsia!

Last Wednesday, after a tip off from a japanese-tourist-wannabe friend about AirAsia signing off the agreement to fly to a much smaller Haneda Airport in Tokyo; I just went berserk at dawn. How could AirAsia able to keep their promise to make the flight from Kuala Lumpur to Haneda as cheap as taking a taxi from Narita Airport to Tokyo? Isn’t that pretty ridiculously amazing?! If I wasn’t sitting in the breathlessly quiet office at that moment, I would just jump billionth times. I would.

I know how many Malaysians have waited for this. To be able to fly cheaply to Japan. At this moment 100 yen is almost equivalent to RM3.60 and a subway station ticket in Tokyo drops at 160 yen. Yikes!! Gonna hurt the wallet for sure but tell you what, after visiting Japan in 2007 I could not emphasize more than this: Just visit Japan. It’s a country worth visiting.

Can’t believe it? So do I. ^^ It looks promising because AirAsia has already updated Tokyo-Haneda (HND) as one of the destinations. Just pray that it will be rolled out by end of September 2010.

Gawk at AirAsia’s website until they start the route officially here. Don’t forget to subscribe to their promotional newsletter. It saves you more time than continuously waiting and staring at the burning red site, I hope..hehehe.

You will find many people who would like to start speaking Japanese. For many though they don’t know where to start. It might not be necessary to have lessons, as you may want to teach yourself.

You must deal with anxiety if you are to learn Japanese. Many potential Japanese speakers are hindered by anxiety. It’s going be a lot easier to learn Japanese once you get over the anxiety.

There is a feeling that if you are getting older then your chances of learning a new language will be much tougher. Despite the feelings of age hampering you, it is completely possible for adults to learn a new language.

Techniques used by children are not bad as they have not fully learnt how to fall into these traps. They are more versatile as their minds are open. But it doesn’t mean that you can’t break these habits as an adult.

Many people have to imagine themselves speaking a new language in a situation to believe they really can.

The truth is that a lot of people just don’t believe in their abilities enough to learn a second language. To be well on the way to success you simply have to believe.

There are many websites out there that you can learn from and listen to Japanese. You are able to become used to the style of the language by watching and listening to the language. Sayings and phrases can be learnt and the speed and how to say them too. You will start to be aware of different trends etc.

Performing any of these tasks will mean that you should probably try and get a dictionary and work out which words you have heard. Finding out what words mean that are said a lot will help you learn certain words or phrases. The more you practice the quicker you will be able to compile sentences and paragraphs. By combining this method with a Japanese class or online package will mean greater success.

One huge difficulty when learning Japanese is how your perceive yourself. As you have a lot of stuff on your plate during the day you have to try and motivate yourself. It is imperative to attempt to build up your self image as soon as you can.

How mind map help me to memorize

Mind maps do help. Is it true? Maybe you have used it before for other things but PROBABLY not for language. It might produce different results to every person but they can be used to note whatever you want in a way that represents how things are stored in your mind. I would assume that you know some of the information and our FOCUS is on how to use them in effectively in language learning.

Learning your mother tongue is already hard so you could imagine how difficult it is to conquer another foreign language. It is scary and so complex. Firstly, you need to split all the complexities into easier chunks and subjects so your brain will not be overloaded.

Here are ideas for few different mind maps and their subjects.

1. Moving and physical activities

List out the entire basic everyday verb that you use in your daily life. In here you will place all the words that are somehow connected with move. You could draw some of the body parts and put colors to spark your interest and sight. Including moving objects, going under them, on top of them, asking where they are at the moment and why you need to go so far to get that delicious sushi.

2. Basic conversation.

Survival phrases do help especially when you intend to travel alone. Put up all the words that may be helpful in speaking with someone. Write down ‘ohayou’ and ‘konnichiwa’ drawing here and there in kanji and hiragana. Typical greetings, good wishes, saying how happy something made you and everything else that you can think of. After the basic, draw another mind map for a more complex one.

3. Grammar and pronunciation

This is really important. You can’t speak the language if you don’t know the grammar. List down all the words that you are unable to pronounce and put more of the romaji words a first if you find it easier to memorize. Say the words loudly mindmapsmaller

whenever you are at home but don’t do it in public. They might think that you are a wacko.

4. Words.

Even if grammar is important what you need the most to bring that language to a higher level is definitely a big fat vocabulary at your finger tips. You may want to create different mind maps for multiple word groups. Groups can contain related subjects and activities. Other than that, you could put in those that sound similar. For easier memorization, you could group it to be noun, verb, adjective and adverbs. Group it in between 50 to 100 words per mind map. You will be surprised how this could exponentially improve your learning.

Finally don’t forget to put your creativity hat in the mind map – colors, drawings, patterns and symbols.

Good luck!
